Just a visual delight

This was taken when the sun was setting outside my house a few weeks ago. It hasn't been touched in photoshop, it was just a beautiful experience I would like to share.

Recent change in design for Tropicana

Recently Tropicana changed the design of its cartons, altering the design from ideas based images (which reflected the fresh nature of tropicana's products in a fun and interesting way), to boring imagery of a glass of orange juice and some standard type. Needless to say the design went down terribly with its customers, which inevitably lead to Tropicana changing the design back to the original. Showing once again that change is usually a good thing, but not always. If its not broke, it probably doesn't need fixing.

Decode exhibition London

This is a picture from the Decode exhibition at the V & A in London. Although the exhibition was relatively small, there were many installations crammed in all of which were interesting and current. This particular piece filmed your actions for 3 seconds and played it on loop within a sequence of other peoples reactions. It was great fun to participate in and to see how other people responded (many were ridiculous and hilarious).

Safe For Work Porn

Not particularly anything to do with design, but it is a brilliant and hilarious example of appropriated moving image.

Indian Superman

This is the craziest thing I have ever seen in my whole life.
I guess you would call it a pastiche.
I call it hilarious.

About me (im not really made of solid gold, but there was a problem with writing this in the 'about me' section)

Hello! And welcome to my new and improved blog. My name is Andrew Mark Dranfield, I got my middle name from my uncle, but I have no idea where Dranfield originates from. My theory is that my forefathers used to put drains in fields, which would make sense, but I choose not to believe that because it’s not the most glamorous of titles to bear. This last year has been a difficult one for me, I believe I have changed as a person much because of the information I have subjected myself to, although nothing I learn will make any difference to myself or anyone else unless I get off my small perfectly round ass and do something about it. If you're still reading (which you're probably not, yet have to be to actually have just read that) ill try to explain why I like the things I do. Art is a major influence in my life, fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, music, everything that helps to communicate self-expression. It is one of the few tools we have left to change the reality we live in (although in a very controlled state). I don't have delusions about changing the world, the world changes with everything we do, yet I do believe the world needs to change. If you do care, and you don't live in fear, feel free to check out my up-loads and links to movies, seminars, etc to find out what it is I’m actually rambling on about.

Anyway thanks for reading this (if you actually did, and didn't just skip to the end) welcome to my new and improved blog, sit down, browse, have a brew and a caramel shortbread, or a digestive biscuit and open you're mind to the world of infinite possibilities. Thanks x

oh shit

Here we go again with the sodding blogs.

Last year I struggled to keep my blog up to date, mainly because i'm quite shit with organization but I also hate keeping a diary, which is basically what a blog is, right?

But I suppose it is a good way to show somebody theoretically half-way around the world, what I am interested in, and more generally what people are interested in (or not) so its not a bad thing. Basically blogs are cool, but I don't particularly like them very much, blah blah blah...

So here we go again, blogging it up too the masses

peace x
